Acquired in
separate parcels, the park's first and largest area of 160 acres was donated
by the Erie County Commission who purchased it from the state in 1974.
The land was formerly the site of the Osborn Prison Honor Farm, which mainly
grew potatoes for other state correctional institutions. Osborn Park
was dedicated in 1975 in honor of the Myron D. Osborn family who settled the
area in the mid 1830's. |
